Cord Blood

Cord blood, or umbilical cord blood,is an incredibly rich source of stem cells taken from the blood that is remaining in the umbilical cord following birth. Cord blood stem cells are being used to treat heredity genetic conditions, some cancers such as leukemia, lymphoma, several inherited blood disorders, and also promoting the correction and regeneration of the immune system in the case of immunodeficiency – as well as almost 80 other diseases. Cord blood can either be banked or donated – when donated it is collected after a baby is born and the umbilical cord has been separated. It does not pose any risk to the baby or mother. Here at Regenerative Aesthetics & Lasers NW we offercord blood therapyto our patients to provide rapid healing and repair of damaged tissues and degenerative conditions.

What Makes Cord Blood So Unique?

Have you ever wondered why babies and young children seem to heal quickly compared to older adults? Unfortunately, as we age, our stem cells age too. They become less effective and viable. This impacts our self-healing abilities whether for a cut or an ankle injury. In contrast, cord blood cells are totally pure. They’re unpolluted, viable and usually free of viruses and bacteria. They also divide rapidly.

Additionally, cord blood stem cells are unique because they are exceptionally adaptive. They can become a variety of cell types because of their differentiation potential. For example, they can be used to treat several different diseases or speed up the healing of tissue for various parts of the body.
